Install the extension
- Download the latest ZIP from the downloads section.
- Open
chrome://extensions, enable “Developer mode”. - Click “Load unpacked” and select the extracted
extension/folder. - After Chrome Web Store approval you can install directly from the listing.
Start your first timer
- Navigate to the page you want to refresh.
- Open the Ultra Reload popup from the toolbar.
- Choose a preset or enter a custom interval (in seconds).
- Toggle “Hard reload” if you need to bypass the cache.
- Press “Start”. Chrome will ask for site permission the first time.
The badge shows seconds until the next refresh. Guard flags appear when typing, media, or uploads are active.
Configure defaults
- Right-click the toolbar icon → “Options”.
- Adjust default interval, jitter, stop-after, and guard preferences.
- Enable quiet hours to pause timers overnight.
- Use import/export to back up or restore timer rules.
Capture screenshots
Use the Options page “Open demo overlay” button to launch a 1280×800 canvas for Chrome Web Store screenshots. Full instructions live in docs/SCREENSHOTS.md.
Troubleshooting
- Timers stop unexpectedly — check guard flags; uploads or typing will pause them.
- Permission denied — revisit the page and start the timer again to re-trigger the site permission prompt.
- Memory Saver — enable “Keep this tab active” in the popup or pin the tab to reduce discard frequency.
